Mission Statement of
First Presbyterian Church

We Confess Christ as Lord:
As a Confessing Church we celebrate Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and as the Head of His Church.  This is the bedrock on which all our programs stand.  Both our Traditional and Praise worship services, as well as our choirs, instrumental music and other special music programs, bring praise and honor to His name.

We Proclaim His Holy Word:
Our Sunday School programs for all ages, from the young in years to the young at heart, are all Bible based.  Mid-week Bible study, Women's Circles and the Men's Prayer Breakfast group meet together to study God' word and learn more about His works and purposes for His Church.

And We Nurture a Growing Community of Faithful Christians:
Evangelism, Fellowship, Member Care and Nurture, Prayer Circle, and Stephen Ministries are all directed to extending the love of Christ to all.  Extensive Mission programs in the local community as well as on the national and global levels, follow the Great Commission.

This statement may appear conventional and "nothing new", but we found it tremendously uplifting, because it demonstrates that in our 120 year history we have withstood the pressures of an ever-changing and ever-more secular society, and stood firm on our Christ-based, Bible-based foundation.  The will of the congregation is a MANDATE to continue with and reinforce our core values.  These critical components drive not only our recollections, but also our dreams for our Church.
